1998 Lexus Es300
When the Lexus ES300 was introduced in the market it had been tagged by its manufacturer
as the executive sedan and had been the entry-level model. After being redesigned
in 1997, the 1998 ES300 received an additional front-seat-mounted side airbags,
an engine immobilizer security system and an optional 215-watt Nakamichi audio
system became available. The 1998 Lexus ES300 carried a 3.0L V6 engine that generated
200 horsepower at 5500 rpm and gives off 195 lbs-ft of torque at 4700 rpm. A 4-speed
automatic overdrive was the available transmission. Fuel economy data includes
19 mpg on city and 27 mpg on highway driving.

Like all ES300 models, the '98 ES300 have standard features that include air
conditioning, power windows, power door locks, power seats, cassette player and
it has a standard seating capacity of 5. Optional features were also available
like sunroof, leather seats and a CD player. Safety features include standard
ABS brakes and driver, passenger side airbags. Packed with lot of amenities and
features, the 1998 Lexus ES300 also suffered from some flaws like occasional engine
failures, minimal problems in transmission and driveline, steering and suspension,
brakes, heating and air conditioning, starting and charging and some in accessories.
Good thing however that these problems are all with low repair cost.
